A breakthrough in RFID technology in the future.
Businesses worldwide use RFID and it has become widely popular; however, compared to the Vietnamese market, this technology is still very new.
In any business or manufacturing operation, knowing the details and quantity of a product is essential and crucial. Therefore, the need for equipment to quickly check product inventory, reducing time and manpower, is urgent. This is why a special technology called RFID was developed.
In fact, RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification. RFID is more advanced than barcodes because it uses radio wave operators to search for information inside a badge chip attached to the product. This allows for the identification of not only the location and total quantity of products but also the rapid and accurate updating and adjustment of product information from a distance.
RFID technology today
Today, RFID applications are widely recognized in the manufacturing industry, where users track goods after they leave the factory and are transported to surrounding warehouses. RFID tracking devices can tell us exactly where goods are located, whether by air, sea, or land. This allows investors to know the precise distribution of goods, preventing losses.
– Similarly, when goods arrive at the warehouse, warehouse management will determine the volume of entry and exit through RFID card readers at each warehouse door, thereby making inventory checks faster and more accurate. Or, locating a shipment within any warehouse will no longer be difficult.
RFID technology in the future
However, few people know that in the future, RFID technology will become even more advanced for retail stores and supermarkets. All products will be fitted with RFID chips containing product information such as: product name, price, start and end dates, etc.
When customers pass through the automated gate equipped with a built-in RFID reader, the first thing they do when shopping is use the app with the integrated QR code, which contains information similar to a unique electronic ATM card for each customer. This is the process by which the owner can begin shopping.
Customers don't need to use shopping carts, baskets, or store their belongings outside as usual; they can simply place the items they want to buy on the counter, put them in their bags, and then walk straight out through the automatic door.
Thanks to the integrated RFID reader, the automatic door will scan everything and display all the information about the purchased products on the screen, print out a payment receipt, and then directly withdraw the money to your e-wallet. This eliminates long queues at the checkout counter, making shopping much faster and more convenient.
More specifically, after shopping, consumers typically store all products in smart refrigerators equipped with RFID readers. This allows for quick notification of product status, such as when products are about to expire or have already expired, enabling timely disposal and disposal.
