In addition to its comprehensive RAIN RFID (UHF) product line, Avery Dennison also offers passive RFID sensor tags for automotive manufacturing. Based on specially developed microchips, these sensor tags are capable of measuring humidity, liquid, or temperature in their environment and transmitting the information to a reader. This sensor technology solution can be used in high-volume applications, unlike conventional active RFID sensors – without requiring a proportional investment. UHF sensor tags are not only cost-effective but also very low-maintenance and easily recyclable in a more environmentally friendly way than sensor technology solutions requiring battery support.

For metal and difficult-to-tag items, Midas Flagtag® is a metal-on tag that delivers excellent performance on metal surfaces at a very competitive price. Midas Flagtag has an innovative small form factor, allowing it to be used in a wide variety of physical situations. In more challenging environments, its performance can be enhanced by using a folded portion of the tag as a “flag,” utilizing the metal surface as part of the antenna structure.
Belt tags and MiniWeb enable tagging of a wide variety of components and deliver industry-leading performance in a compact form factor, even in tight coupling environments. In particular, overlays and MiniWeb tags offer excellent performance on difficult-to-tag or low-resolution materials such as cardboard and plastics, as well as in other demanding environments.
Another Avery Dennison product well-suited for a wide range of automotive applications is the AD-373u7XM tag, which achieves excellent reading ranges of up to 8 meters in both FCC and ETSI zones.
In the final production stage, the Tadpole Sensor is a passive humidity sensor that can accurately detect and identify leaks before the vehicle leaves the factory. It's designed to measure changes in humidity levels when mounted directly to the vehicle body behind any insulation, to detect any water ingress during the final quality control inspection.
