RFID Chip

What is RFID chip technology?

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is a technology that uses radio waves to automatically identify and track identification tags attached to objects.

In other words, RFID chip is a long-range radio frequency identification technique that allows data on a chip to be read without contact via a radio wave at a distance of 50 cm to 10 meters. It uses RFID chip tagging devices and RFID readers.

Advantages and disadvantages of RFID chip technology

  1. Advantages of RFID Chips

The advantage of RFID chips is that they don't use light beams like barcodes and don't require direct contact. Some RFID tags can be read through various materials such as concrete and snow, even in harsh environments where barcodes and other technologies cannot compare.

RFID chip technology relies on radio waves to transmit and receive information between the tag and the reader. In its simplest form, the RFID reader assigns a signal to the RFID tag, and the tag returns a signal carrying the information.
The information is provided in the form of a GS1™ electronic product code (EPC) – which can be attached to individual RFID tags and then attached to products, boxes, pallets, or shelves.

RFID technology can be understood as a barcode; similar to barcodes, RFID tags are often used to quickly track product status information.

  2. Disadvantages of RFID Chips

However, because RFID tags use radio frequency technology, they don't have to read in a straight line – meaning entire pallets of products or shipments can be read quickly, up to 700 products per day.
RFID tagging offers clear opportunities in driving search engine optimization and chain usage (known as smart name tracking).

In addition to distributing and providing benefits, many brands use RFID tags to introduce experiences to customers, allowing customers to look up the name to find educational programs or related pages and products.

RFID Chip System Features

RFID systems use a wireless system to receive and transmit radio waves, unlike barcodes which use light beams.
The most common frequencies used in RFID systems are 125kHz or 900MHz.
Information can be transmitted over short distances without physical contact.
Information can be read from various environments, such as concrete, ice, scale, frost, color, and other challenging conditions where barcodes and other technologies might not work.

RFID Chip Tags
: Depending on the frequency range, RFID tags are available in four different types:

  1. NFC (Near Field Communication): proximity tag
  2. LF (low frequency): low frequency
  3. HF (high frequency): high frequency
  4. UHF (ultra-high frequency): ultra-high frequency

Uses RFID Chip technology.

The most common use of anti-theft devices is in grocery stores. RFID toys are then supplied along with product codes. RFID antenna and radar controllers are installed outside the door. If the key and items are not removed from the controlled door, the reader can easily detect this and issue an alert.

Another application is the production of anti-theft locks. Using RFID technology in anti-theft locks would encourage theft. So, what exactly is an RFID chip ? How do they work with their applications? If you find this information useful and interesting, please share it with your friends!
