RFID standards that must be followed

RFID technologies, equipment, and tags must fully comply with Vietnamese and international standards. These standards are established to ensure that RFID equipment and tags function properly, regardless of manufacturer, in order to reduce interference, enhance security, and improve the performance of RFID systems.

RFID devices and tags are radio communication equipment that must comply with the following regulations of the host country:

  • Frequency band planning allows for the transmission power of RFID devices. The current UHF RFID frequency range is 918-923 MHz, with transmission power not exceeding 60 mV.
  • Rules for verifying conformity and declaring conformity of radio transmitters and receivers.

Information encoding and transmission level of UHF RFID tags:

  • Electronic Product Code™ (EPC), published by the non-profit organization EPC Global, defines how to enter different product codes, facilitating the global flow of RFID-tagged goods. The rules include tag data format, tag manufacturer code, user memory information, etc.
  • EPC Gen2 or EPC C1G2 standard: Defines the communication method between the reader and the RFID identification tag provided by EPCglobal.
  • ISO 18000: RFID Organizational Standards
  • ISO. ISO 18000-6C: UHF RFID ISO standard equivalent to EPC Gen2.
